Documenting the D.C. Student Encampment

2025 American University Visions WINNER

In spring 2024 over the course of two weeks, university students from around D.C. and across the nation exercised their First Amendment right to freedom of speech as they pitched tents on their quads in protest of the role their schools and communities played in the Israel-Hamas war, which many have argued is an ethnic cleansing and a genocide. Through ten particularly chosen photographs, this is an abridged story of the D.C. student encampment through my lens.
